HwangDBS IM Increases Fund Size for their HwangDBS Fixed Maturity Income Fund I to RM 150 Million Units

Increased investors appetite for stable, income yielding investments

Kuala Lumpur, 1st July 2009 – HwangDBS Investment Management Berhad ("HwangDBS IM") today announced that there will be increasing the fund size of its HwangDBS Fixed Maturity Income Fund I ("FMIF I" or "the Fund") from 100 million units (or RM 50 million) to 150 million units (or RM75 million) following the positive response received from the local market. The Fund, launched on 8 June 2009, has been approximately 78 percent subscribed. This is to cater to the better-than-expected response to the Fund.

Teng Chee Wai, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of HwangDBS IM, said, "We are extremely pleased with the traction the FMIF I has gained in the local market. Despite the general economic uncertainty, the Fund sold well. We believe that the success of the Fund is due to the Fund’s proposition of offering investors with a feasible access to the global bond market and potentially favourable returns as the Fund invest in a multitude of foreign and local fixed income instruments, primarily in bonds such as sovereign issued bonds, private debt securities, convertible bonds and other fixed income instruments. These securities will provide income by way of coupon payments at intervals which are predetermined."

Teng continued, "In response to the positive reception, we have written to inform the Securities Commission that we will be increasing the fund size from 100 million to 150 million units to ensure more investors are able to capitalise on this attractive evergreen investment product."

HwangDBS IM believes that the uncertainty of the market is the key to the positive interest of bond income typed fund by the local investors. Their target for 2009 is to continue introducing products that ensure investors attain exposure to the best possible portfolio of unit trusts available in the local and international market.
